Instagram introduces Threads

Facebook owned Instagram introduces Threads, a photo messaging app allows user to share statuses, photos and videos with people they have added as close friends.

Instagram has finally released Threads. Threads is a way to make communication easier with people that have been added as close friends. Threads is available as a standalone application just like Instagram’s IGTV.

The application process is quite simple. Users can share posts, videos and photos with people that have been added into their close friends list on Instagram. People can also make a close friends list from the Threads app directly for those who have never made a close friends list before.

Threads by Facebook owned Instagram is another attempt from the social media giant to compete with competitor Snap’s Snapchat. Prior to this Facebook had add the stories features to Facebook, Messenger, Instagram and even Whatsapp. Stories are a feature that Snapchat has pioneered and what the application is best known and used for.

Robby Stein, Instagram director of product said regarding Threads “For your smaller circle of friends, we saw the need to stay more connected throughout the day, so you can communicate what you’re doing and how you’re feeling through photos and videos

However Threads catching up on Instagram’s audience is a question only time will tell.
